Cottbus winner awarded in Vilnius

The Polish THE LAST FAMILY won the prize for the Best film at the Vilnius Film Festival "Kino Pavasaris" worth 5000 Euro. Jan P. Matuszyński's portrait of the family life of the cult painter Beksiński was awarded by the jury of the competition section "New Europe - New Names", which shows feature films from Eastern Central and Eastern Europe. THE LAST FAMILY won awards for Best male actor (Dawid Orgrodnik) and the Best debut film at the FilmFestival Cottbus in 2016, Matuszyński will pitch his new project at this year's East-West coproduction market connecting cottbus. A total of 15 prizes were awarded in Vilnius. The festival and its film industry section "Meeting Point Vilnius" has now become one of the most important public festivals and industry events in the Baltic States. The "Meeting Point Vilnius" put a special emphasis on the presentation of new projects from Belarus and Ukraine this year. The current Belarussian cinema will also be presented at the FilmFestival Cottbus in 2017.
