Festival
The Cottbus Film Festival takes place every November. This year’s edition will take place from 3 to 8 November 2026.
The Cottbus Film Festival takes place at several venues in Cottbus, including the Weltspiegel Film Theater, the Obenkino, and the Glad-House. You can find an overview of all venues, including their addresses, here.
All of our venues are accessible. At some venues, wheelchair users can enter through the courtyard. You can find detailed accessibility information and contact details on each venue’s website.
Yes, in addition to the film screenings, you can enjoy panel discussions, exhibitions, concerts, and other festival-related events. The supporting programme can be found online from the middle of October onwards.
Yes, media members can apply for festival accreditation using our accreditation form.
Programm
The festival program features around 140 films, spread across several competitions and sections.
Most films are shown in their original language with German and/or English subtitles. Some screenings offer different versions, such as German dubbing, German or Lower Sorbian simultaneous translation, German Sign Language, or no dialogue at all. The film's detail page notes the specific language version.
Yes, as part of the festival, there are special school performances for different age groups. You can find the dates and grade levels in the “Film Education”.
Yes, our website has a filterable programme overview where you can search by date, venue, section, or keyword. Our programme will be published in the middle of October.
Many screenings are followed by Q&A sessions with filmmakers in attendance.
A screening labeled as a “world premiere” is the very first public screening of a film anywhere in the world, exclusively at the Cottbus Film Festival.
Yes, in addition to feature-length films, we screen our own short-film programs featuring a selection of outstanding shorts.
Tickets
You can purchase tickets online through our ticketing partner, Reservix, at all Reservix advance booking offices, at CottbusService, or directly at each venue during the festival week.
