FFC on the road: Trieste Film Festival

Bernd Buder, Program Director of the Cottbus Film Festival and Jana Gebauer, Head of PR&Marketing were at the Film Festival in Trieste, Italy.

The film festival in Trieste, northern Italy, right on the border with Slovenia, focuses on showing films from eastern Central Europe. It was held for the 34th time from January 21-28.

Finding special films for the FFC in November was of course in focus. In addition, program director Bernd Buder was a member of the short film jury:

He was on the short film jury together with Doris Bauer, co-director of the "Vienna Shorts" film festival and the Italian film critic Giampiero Raganelli (third and fourth from the left in the picture). The Croatian entry PLIMA by Eva Vidan, a visually powerful, emotional reflection of a grandmother-granddaughter relationship on a Dalmatian Adriatic island, was awarded Best Short Film. Prizes were awarded in a total of four competitions. The feature film competition was won by Austria's SONNE, a coming-of-age story about three girls in Vienna set in the Kurdish community that cleverly combines YouTube style with social drama. Special mentions went to the Greek social comedy BLACK STONE and the Croatian SAFE PLACE, which won the last FFC.

Like the FFC, the Trieste Film Festival is a member of the European film festival network MIOB (Moving Images Open Borders. It is flanked by the co-production market When East Meets West (www.wemw.it).
