Hannah has taken a vow of chastity, one which prohibits any physical intimacy before marriage. Matters get complicated however when she falls in love with the new neighbour Max. And her brother Timotheus develops romantic feelings for his best friend Jonas. Deeply convinced that his homosexuality goes against God's will, he fights against his "impure" thoughts and decides to be "cured" of his homosexual feelings in a so-called "spiritual guidance seminar". And so the siblings find themselves at the crossroads as they increasingly clash with their parents and the wider community. The family's values and expectations start to come into conflict with the siblings' feelings. GOTTESKINDER is the feature film debut from Frauke Lodders, one for which she received the Hessian Film and Cinema Award for Best Screenplay back in 2019.
