When sisters Eugenia and Nastya arrive in Munich after fleeing Ukraine, they are warmly welcomed into a shared flat. Whilst one thrives in the new, safe environment and tries to enjoy life, the other cannot yet break free from the war and the pain of loss – how should life go on?

The contrast between the carefree existence of their new flatmates and the war-affected young women is striking; and dealt with differently by both – whilst one adapts, the other withdraws. In this film, director Mykyta Gibalenko portrays not only his own two sisters but also the German Willkommenskultur, with its inherent conflicts and contradictions: Should one ask what the refugees have experienced or simply just avoid the subject? How great is the discrepancy between the minor everyday problems of the people of Munich and the nightly panic attacks, triggered by something as insignificant as a car alarm, experienced by the Ukrainian women. Instead of evaluating or passing judgement, Gibalenko's film chooses to illustrate the complexity of the situation for all those involved; and especially the ambivalent feelings of the protagonists towards their safe new environment.
