DOBRA DJECA

GOOD CHILDREN

Filip Peruzović
HR, 2024, 78 Min

Sadness felt by the heart, and a feeling of alienation in the soul: their mother has passed away. Now the parental home has to be cleared. For the daughter and son, themselves now grown old, a journey into the past, amidst the removal boxes and the thousands of leftover objects, begins. Only slowly do they grow closer again.

Though he house is not yet empty, all the objects have already been torn from their traditional place. The siblings, a younger sister and her older brother, have not seen each other for a long time; she has been living in Canada for years. The two feel alienated from each other. She - latently passive aggressive, wants to put the whole thing behind her and reacts with irritation when he packs up his mother's porcelain figurines too slowly. He - lost in himself, slightly melancholic, feels that a world is coming to an end. Through their memories they slowly find each other again. A film that is touching in its minimalist approach and atmosphere of transience, via which details become objects of mourning: the ants that have found their way onto the balcony, the mother's clothes in the closet, seen on her so often, now of no use at all.
