Michaela Pavlátová, one of the most acclaimed Czech animators, adapted the novel Freshta by Czech journalist Petra Procházková into the film My Sunny Maad. In this deeply moving yet often humorous film, the audience experiences everyday life in post-Taliban Afghanistan in 2011 through Herra's eyes, exploring cultural differences and, more importantly, the universal experiences that connect us all. My Sunny Maad took five years to complete and has deservedly won multiple awards, including the Jury Award in the main competition at Annecy and the César Award for Best Animated Film.
