Timir has difficulty settling in to life in the village. His father has set up a room for him, but otherwise treats him with indifference and continues to live his usual life. At school, he is bullied by his classmates. The instigator is Sarel, the boy next door. Timir retreats to the garbage dump, where he meets a strange man. Talking to him, he learns that he is a lost spirit caught between two worlds. He helps Timir to get his father off alcohol and make friends. Now Timir and his father just have to win the school's father-son competition and with it a color TV.
The director is a self-taught filmmaker with an obvious preference for Wes Anderson's surreal humor, which he adapts to the conditions in the Yakutian province in a congenial way. The film was made independently in the former autonomous region of Sakha (Yakutia) with a mini-budget of 50,000 USD.
