"I prefer keeping in mind even the possibility that existence has its own reason for being." ("Ich ziehe den Gedanken vor, dass jede Existenz ihren ganz eigenen Grund hat, zu sein.") Begleitet von der Poesie der Nobelpreisträgerin Wislawa Szymborska, nimmt uns die erfolgreiche Dokumentarfilmerin Veronika Lišková in ihrem Spielfilmdebüt mit zu einer universellen Erfahrung - dem Verlust eines geliebten Menschen. Mit sensibler Herangehensweise, getragen vom authentischen Schauspiel der Hauptdarstellerin Pavla Beretová, führt Lišková uns durch diese emotional schmerzhafte Reise. Dabei beleuchtet sie nicht nur die Trauer, sondern auch die zusätzlichen Belastungen, die das bürokratische Verfahren nach dem Tod eines Menschen mit sich bringt. Ihre intime Darstellung des Verlusts vermeidet Klischees und zeigt, dass solche Erfahrungen auch Anstoß für Veränderungen sein können.

Veronika Lišková - Veronika Lišková graduated from the Department of Theory of Culture at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague and from Screenwriting and Dramaturgy at FAMU. Her feature length documentary debut, “Daniel's World”, was screened in the Panorama section at Berlinale and subsequently presented at festivals around the world (it also won an Audience Award at the Ji.hlava IDFF 2014 and was nominated for the Czech Film Critics Award). In 2015 she won the Pavel Koutecký Award for her short film “Kohoutková” (Tap Water). Her second feature length documentary, “The Visitors”, premiered in the Semaine de la Critique section at the Locarno IFF in 2022. It is currently continuing its successful festival life and has been screened at more than 30 festivals since its premiere a year ago (e.g. Chicago IFF, HotDocs, Tromso IFF, Trieste IFF, Tempo IFF, Dok.fest Munchen, etc.). Taskovski Films are handling the sales and the Czech Film and Television Academy nominated the film for EFA. It won Best Film award in Czech competition of One World FF and Special Mention at Ji.hlava IDFF. Recently, it has been nominated for the Pavel Koutecký Award 2023. Veronika is currently in development with her third documentary with the working title "My Second, Perfect Me" about eating disorders under Cinémotif Films production company.
