SECTION: Ukranian Film Day
Amongst all the heated debates that have been used to court the favour of German voters in recent weeks, those of the greatest importance have been notable by their absence. Have we lost empathy? How, for instance, are the Ukrainians who have been living their daily lives under Russian fire for more than two and a half years now? Making preparations for birthdays, weddings and funerals in the knowledge that they are, in the process, potentially making themselves targets, or might have to spend next winter in the cold. This year, Ukrainian Day at the FFC once again invites refugees from Ukraine to attend the festival Saturday free of charge and thus become part of our festival community. At the same time, our Ukrainian film programme shows how the Ukrainian film scene, in spite of the most adverse circumstances, continues to creatively engage with history, the present and even the future. With investigative power, everyday awareness, thoughtfulness and a poetic flourish.

"Український день“ кінофестівалю міста Котбус запрошує всіх громадян України та пропонує їм безкоштовний вхід на всі фільми за пред’явленням українського паспорта (закордонного або внутрішнього).
Цього року кінофестиваль представляє сім повнометражних і короткометражних фільмів з України чи про Україну. Наша програма показує, як українська кіносцена, попри найнесприятливіші обставини, творчо підходить до історії, сьогодення і навіть майбутнього. З дослідницькою силою, повсякденною усвідомленістю, вдумливістю та поезією.
