TALE OF A PINK BUNNY

TALE OF A PINK BUNNY

Farhat Sharipov
KAZ, 2010, 105 Min

A pop music-driven small-time gangster journey from the cornfield to the golf course. Yerlan has made it from the village to the city. He hangs out with the rich kids, who turn out to be gangster offshoots. When one of the bosses needs a favor, the noose slowly tightens.

Yerlan actually earns his money as a pink rabbit figure who distributes flyers. But then he meets the rich kids of the Kazakh underworld and, to make matters worse, falls in love. Soon, one of the bosses needs a little favor. What can Yerlan do about it? Gangster flick and box office hit from Kazakhstan in American indie style. Music videos flash between crazy action sequences and complete a uniquely cool film experience. Farkhat Sharipov's debut is still an absolute cult film in Kazakhstan and one of the most successful films ever produced in the country.
