Large swathes of land lost their natural vegetation and the living standards of the rural population declined, with the regions of Grodno and Brest bearing the brunt. In this documentary film the director provides the affected villagers with a chance to have their say: their subjective depictions are complemented by striking footage and facts, which when taken as a whole provide in-depth insight into the dramatic consequences of a government programme which intends to drain 3,500 hectares of marshland by 2020.
