Ivan leads a contented existence together with his wife, son Dima, a mechanic tasked with repairing the car, as well as adopted son Venya in the midst of a seemingly peaceful idyll. The behavior of both Clara and Xenia soon disturbs the family equilibrium however, as long suppressed truths come to light.
Director Andrey Golubev, familiar to Cottbus audiences with two of his short films, VREMJA GONA/MATING SEASON (2003) and KASANOVA/CASANOVA (2005), having previously featured in the festival programme, has created here a conventionally staged drama that unites wonderfully captured autumn landscapes with the demise of its protagonists. With Vladimir Gostyukhin as Ivan, the film features one of Belarusian cinema's leading lights. MM

Andrey Golubev - born in 1969. In 2002 he graduated from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts with a degree in directing. He has additionally worked on over 45 projects as an actor and stuntman.
