A heavily-armed police elite unit is tasked with transferring a dangerous criminal from a high security prison to a private psychiatric clinic. This at least is the official justification for the mission. When however it comes to light that the criminal is in fact a notorious child abuser who killed a number of police officials in the course of his arrest, members of the elite unit come up with a solution of their own.
Director Maciej Żak displays a further evolution of his signature style here, with claustrophobic scenes interchanged with bleak countryside views and breathless chase scenes that are not for the faint-hearted. At the same time the film raises ethical questions, reflecting critically on notions of justice and punishment. Audiences have reacted positively to this combination of genre filmmaking and high production value, with the release proving a success both in Poland and the United Kingdom. TB
