A hard-hitting psychological thriller: a seemingly idyllic weekend break at the house of wealthy friends takes an unexpected turn when Anna and Juhan provide refuge to a fellow couple during a downpour. Over a meal the two couples learn that they share a remarkable number of similarities, as the protagonists soon lose themselves in a tide of emotions that fluctuates between love and hate, reality and delusion.

The title of Vallo Toomlas's debut film is a challenge to the viewer: who here is genuine and how is one to see through the deception? Resentment, envy and long-suppressed contempt soon set a series of acts of hypocrisy and intrigue in motion with ultimately fatal consequences. The success of TEESKLEJAD goes back to its precise, almost merciless dissection of its main characters and the ties that bind them, until they snap like over-tightened strings.

With everyday disagreements added a psychoanalytical edge by the film's impressive visual concept, the stylish glasshouse around which the plot revolves comes by day to represent a goldfish bowl in which the protagonists' suppressed feelings unfold, whilst at night the many windows are transformed into sombre mirrors, in the reflections of which the dividing lines between the two couples become blurred.
