The Age of Aquarius

Fanni Szilágyi
Hungary, 2017, 21 Min

A completely absurd undertaking: heavily pregnant Lili's mother believes that her daughter should give birth in spiritual surroundings, the only problem being that these are hundreds of kilometres from home. Thus four women of varying temperaments set off on a road trip to Romania in order to follow a constellation of stars.

University of Theatre and Film Arts Budapest

Abruptly removed from the initial techno beats and crude neon colours, the audience suddenly finds itself on a turbulent journey full of unexpected hurdles amidst a picturesque late summer idyll. The four women we are acquainted with on the way are all endearingly eccentric, and yet the search for the sacred place soon teaches them all that being far removed from harmful radio waves also implies isolation from the civilised world.

Director Fanni Szilágyi has created here a charming, insightful work that lends colour to her characters and almost imperceptibly places the viewer in the midst of this unconventional quartet. ST
