The city of Legnica, Poland, in 1978: together with his girlfriend young Jerzy raids local pharmacies and consumes drugs in the company of his fellow junkies. Shocked into action as his friends gradually succumb to drug overdose, Jerzy resolves to turn his life around. Once in a rehabilitation clinic, the former youth athlete realises that he can overcome his inner demons with the help of sport. To this ends he chooses one of the toughest sports out there: triathlon.
Director Łukasz Palkowski, who came to international fame thanks to his 2014 medical drama BOGOWIE/GODS, tells here a compelling true story full of historical insight and local authenticity. Set to a soundtrack of seventies classics from bands such as Deep Purple, Steppenwolf and Queen Palkowski forgoes a Hollywood ending in favour of an engaging portrait of a misfit who defeats his inner demons.
