Almost ten years since the domestic release of the popular and often rescreened Christmas fairytale ANDĚL PÁNĚ (2005), director Jiří Strach finally brings out a sequel. Complete with a dash of saintly humour, the film proved the success story of Czech cinema in 2016. The plot again revolves around angel Petronel and the devil-tempter Uriah, both of whom have a lesson to learn. Petronel is unhappy with his job at heaven's gate and convinced that he deserves better. Uriah takes advantage of the situation to tempt his friend to the tree of knowledge, from which Petronel is to pick an apple, thus opening the path to long-deserved recognition. This only leads, however, to the pair's banishment to earth, where they set out on an adventure that leads them back to heaven. AB
