Koli is a young student who lives a fashionable life in the capital city. On finding out that his father has died however his life gradually begins to change. He leaves Tirana and returns to his home village in order to attend the funeral. Back again at the places of his childhood the young man is suddenly shot at on a walk though the surrounding area. In the village he then learns that a tribe, long hostile to his family, wants to kill him due to a blood feud, the origins of which go back over sixty years. Initially uncomprehending and naive, he tries to solve the problem with a visit to the vengeful family, without success. Slowly but surely the student realises that he wants to lead a modern, independent life. At the same time however he remains trapped by archaic, outdated rituals and structures, which inevitably bind him to the deeds of his forefathers. There's no escape: his "new old" enemies follow him back to the city. Koli fears for his life and procures himself a weapon, so that he might be able to defend himself in an emergency. Ultimately the hunted becomes a hunter. Appalled and shocked by his own behaviour, but also scared of not being able to halt the spiral of violence, Koli sees only one way out: he decides to leave Albania, it is to be his last journey.
