EMIL UND DIE DETEKTIVE

EMIL AND THE DETECTIVES

Shortly after its premiere on December 2nd 1931, a review proclaimed that the tale of little Emil was already sufficiently well-known. Created and published in the form of a novel by the emerging author Erich Kästner back in 1929, the story had within two years already sold over a million copies. Since then the tale has accompanied and enthused successive generations of adolescents.

In the meantime the novel has been filmed several times. This adaptation remains remarkable however for the fact that it was not only the first German feature film aimed at children, but also features unique historical images of Berlin and Brandenburg.
