They still exist in the Ukraine; The forgotten
wooden villages and the modest, hard-working
people than inhabit them. Valentyn Vasyanovych
cautiously observes these people and
their daily struggle for survival. “Prysmerk”
means dawn, though in reference to Maria and
Sashko‘s life it could also be interpreted as
twilight. The eighty-two-year-old tenaciously
works in the garden, whilst her remarkably
gifted blind and critically ill son carries out
the necessary repairs. They support each other,
but for how long? A moving documentary fi lm
full of picturesque imagery as if from another
age.
