First the divorce then Karger, a steel maker and man of few words, loses his job. What should he do in the emptiness that now surrounds him? He misses his wife and child, no longer has an object for the love he has to give. What should he do with his time, which was once so tightly structured? Begin a new relationship, which fails. Attend the obligatory job centre courses, without any future prospects. Built like a tree, the protagonist soon starts to resemble a leaf in the wind. His, and our, drama becomes inescapably perceptible via the documentary-like gestures and expressions of the outstanding amateur film cast.
