The Italian Antonio left his birthplace Piran shortly after the end of the Second World War, the small city by the Adriatic Sea having fallen to Yugoslavia. Shortly afterwards the Bosnian Veljko entered Piran as a member of the victorious partisan army and spent nearly his whole life there, only to become a “foreigner” when Slovenia gains independence. The city serves as a stage for a meeting of the two men with the Slovenian Anica, who recollects the events of the nineties, when Slovenia stood on the threshold of war.
A trialogue on history and the power(lessness) of national identities and collective memory.
