Keiser has seen better times; he was once a celebrated rock star. Nowadays however the layabout fifty-something lives with his mother and behaves like a diehard rocker who refuses to grow up. Given his inability to hold down a regular job, Keiser resolves to reform his old band The Cormorants. In the process he hooks up with the pretty daughter of one of his ex-band mates and recalls how it was to feel in-demand. Though initially ridiculed, Keiser rises to fame again, only to be rapidly to be taken down a peg; in addition the new love of his life wants to leave the country and try her luck elsewhere. Keiser doesn't surrender however, and instead fights for his woman and the band's reunion, all before it comes to a final showdown on the stage...
Though boldfaced and somewhat rough around the edges, this congenial old man's tale from Estonia nevertheless possesses a certain ramshackle charm. At times the film also strikes more melancholic, tranquil notes, though regardless of tone it is the music and the extremely popular soundtrack, as well as the well-established cast, that endeared the Estonian public to this film: 38,000 viewers makes this the third most successful Estonian film of all time.
