A remarkably well-produced historical film, this work represents the most expensive and successful production in the history of Kyrgyz film. The epic covers a period stretching from 1816-1910 and tells the tale of an unconventional woman; strong-willed Kurmanjan resists not only an arranged marriage, but also the Russian occupiers of her homeland.
More than ten-thousand people contributed towards the production making the headlines due to the personal involvement to the film´s script by Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Culture. JT
