The film accompanies two players, Moussa Latundji and Franklin Bittencourt, both foreigners in surroundings said to be plagued by right-wing extremism, manager Eduard Geyer, a group of local allotment holders, barmaid Inge and her motley crew of locals, master butcher Jende and last but not least the regulars at Viola's Kiosk in the pre-fabricated housing development of Schmellwitz. A region that, economically-speaking, already belongs in the lower leagues in a struggle for dignity. A multifaceted snapshot of a chapter from the recent past. GL
