Having overcome some early teething problems Anna seizes the opportunity to discover a foreign land full of mystery, an adventure the viewer experiences from close range due to the outstanding camera work of director Ivan Vyrypaev. Subtly complemented by a handful of philosophical exchanges, a largely silent, cliché-free portrait of mutual understanding and religious tolerance is painted, which furthermore represents a highly unusual take on Catholicism from a Russian director.
