In this, her directorial debut, the director uses conventional filmmaking techniques in order to take a closer, critical look at issues currently making headlines far beyond the borders of Russia; corruption and double moral standards when dealing with those from foreign shores.

The emotionally unstable Masha, whose partner lost his life in a joint operation against illegal immigrants, ends up involuntarily growing closer to Hassan, with whom she shares the same fate; Masha also doesn't have a Moscow residence permit. MM
