When a young reporter stumbles across an article from the archives, describing the death of a refugee from the GDR which occurred back in the eighties, he is faced by an identity crisis. Not only do the refugee and reporter bear a remarkable resemblance, they even share the same name.

In order to unravel the mystery he sets off across Lusatia on a delicate search for clues, which takes him to the region's tourist attractions, ghost towns and long-forgotten locations. Time and again he encounters evidence of a bygone love, the details of which he is determined to bring to light.

KonturPROJEKT Filmproduktion

AUF DER SUCHE sees the birth of a novel genre, which seeks to fuse film and video game. The result is an “interactive film”, in which the viewer (or player) is supposed to explore the plot in a series of interactive scenes, akin to the point-and-click adventures which emerged in the eighties. Audiences are thus invited to engage with this interactive work-in-progress, the final version of which is due to be released next year.

Erik Schiesko - born 1986 in Cottbus, Germany. He completed an audio-visual media designer apprenticeship in 2010. As video journalist he has shot over 400 news reports. Alongside his work, he directed video clips as well as short films. Currently he works as freelance director.
