In the good old days Franz Maurer and his colleagues from the Ministry of Public Security lived a comfortable life. When the communist period came to an end life changed however, and they were forced to come to terms with reality in newly-democratic Poland. Franz Maurer for instance, now a simple policeman, is charged with combating a local Mafia clique, which in turn is headed by a handful of his ex-colleagues. On finding out that his friend is in fact a criminal Franz runs amok. An accurate, action-packed portrait of Polish society in the early nineties. CR
