Bosnian-Herzogovinian filmmaker Nejra Latić Hulusić, a hijab-wearer, and Sabrina Begović Ćorić, a Muslim who prefers not to wear a headscarf, discuss a new “punk movement” that has appeared in society; “a young generation of Muslim women are choosing to wear the headscarf as an expression of faith and rebellion against the capitalist vision of female liberation.” On researching the matter further they encounter self-assured women who see the headscarf as a source of freedom in a sexually-charged society. An alternative, Bosnian take on the headscarf debate.
As UNDER THE COVER is yet to be completed, the directors will discuss their film within the framework of the FilmFestival Cottbus as a work in progress.
