In Moscow social and moral differences collide; Masha would love to be an actress, and therefore she spends puts all the money she manages to put aside from her part-time job in a club towards plastic surgery. Her co-worker Kostya agrees to resort to illegal methods in order to help out Masha, even though he's the son of a Moscow oligarch. Drawing upon elements as diverse as fairy tale and melodrama ZVEZDA has something for everybody, and the scene when the two central characters perform Christina Aguilera's Beautiful is guaranteed to tug at the heartstrings of even our most hardened festival visitors.
