It's difficult to imagine a more radical programme against the ultra-modern Warsaw familiar to all from feature films on the Polish capital; these 'alternative guided tours' force participants to focus attentions on the city's rougher edges and forgotten suburbs. Sieverts unlocks structures and internal borderlines, studies maps and cuts through fences in order to reveal the web of history and planning, Asian takeaways and gated communities, tent camps and motorway service areas that hold this metropolis together. Christiane Büchner - born 1965 in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. She studied Sculpture and Experimental Film at the University of Arts Berlin and later at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. She works as a freelance filmmaker of documentary films and directs commissioned productions for several broadcasting stations, and lectures at different universities.
