Dariyan Salamat accompanies Calingash as she completes her arduous chores; to the pawnbroker's shop, then the local shop where she pays for her groceries with an IOU, and finally back home, where she tries to get the dated television set going again so that she might provide for at least a modicum of family entertainment. Shot from a respectful distance and yet rarely venturing far from his protagonist, the director unobtrusively draws attention to the daily struggles of a woman abandoned by husband and society alike, whilst leaving room for conciliatory gestures between a mother and her daughters.
