In 1993 fourteen-year-old Linda returns to Dubrovnik together with her father. Her new friend Eta leads her to a forest overlooking the city. Progressively the girls become immersed in an obsessive, sexually-charged game of identity swap, which ultimately leads to Eta's deadly fall. Afterwards Linda returns to the city where she proceeds to take her friend's place. Quickly however, in a matriarchal world shaped by the loss of war, she appears in danger of having the rug pulled from under the feet, as Eta appears time and again, berating Linda for her misdeeds.
