The focal point of this multiple-award-winning directional debut is Larissa, who lives together with her her stepfather and overburdened mother in a small town by the Black Sea. She develops a crush on Florin, the local 'Don Juan' and, having developed a misplaced sense of confidence, complicates life further in that she's expelled from school and then runs away from home. In this impressive portrayal of teenage troubles Nicolae Constantin Tănase gives evidence as to why he's widely regarded as one of the most promising directors of a generation. EG
