Ostkreuz, Berlin, a rear courtyard, two steps. The trains almost pass through her bedroom, outside the usual faces bluster in the yard. Ramona lives alone; she's bashful, vulnerable, withdrawn. Then she encounters Andrzej; he's attentive, affectionate, protective. His appearance speeds up the transition from girl to woman: she loves, lives and ultimately ends up pregnant. Andrzej has a wife in Poland however and Ramona loses the baby; her sense of disappointment couldn't be greater, thus in order to ensure the fulfilment of her dream she abducts an infant. With a gentle sense of persuasion Misselwitz depicts the life of a woman stifled by the dissonance between dream and reality. Featuring a stellar performance from the unforgettable Susanne Lothar.
