In the course of the Second World War the Spanish “Blue Division” is despatched to support Hitler's invasion of the Soviet Union. To the surreal background of an 18,000-man garrison of the Spanish Army attempting to survive the Russian winter, a thriller on a mysterious series of murders committed against members of the Spanish phalanx evolves. All evidence leads to a war crime committed during the Spanish Civil War, as well as the defeats of the ongoing war: Officers play a dangerous game of Russian roulette, Germans and Spaniards come into conflict and the investigating commissar is witness to the execution of a hostage.
