Farewell to a second home: a Volga German family in the Argentinian province of Entre Rios decide to sell their chicken farm and start a new existence elsewhere. The tale is narrated from the perspective of the adolescent siblings Lucas and Brenda: a farewell to a challenging everyday existence in the flat lowland plains and a family tradition which dates back to the nineteenth century immigration of Volga German settlers to north-eastern Argentina. A coming of age tale played out to polka, poverty, German dialects and Spanish new beginnings. BB
