This Basque production depicts three people on a quest: It leads us to the natural extremes of the former Soviet Union, from the frosty expanses of Siberia to the deserts of Kazakhstan. In Vladivostok a sailor provides refuge to a pregnant prostitute and introduces her to his family. The domineering mother and unattached brother loathe the uninvited guest from the South however, the prelude to a drama played out to a desolate winter landscape. Years later a young man scans the dusty deserts of Kazakhstan for memories of his mother and encounters what remains of a family.

Miguel Angel Jiménez - born 1979 in Madrid. Abandoned his law studies in order to take up cinematography. Shot his début short film LAS HUELLAS, produced by Aki Kaurismäki, in 2001. Currently working on his third feature film TITAN Y LA PLAYA DE LOS ZARES.
