Eight-year-old Janek comes from Poland; at present however he lives in northern Argentina amongst the wooden houses of the tropical rainforest. His mother teaches the villagers on behalf of the Polish government, since many of the poverty-stricken locals have Polish roots. Janek's father is the director Wojciech Staron, who documents the acclimatisation process his son undergoes in a series of poetic snapshots, most notably his acquaintanceship with Marcia, the daughter of a mentally ill mother and absent father forever in search of something to do.
