In 1776, at the emperor’s court in Vienna, a young attorney, Henryk Klein, receives a complaint about a certain Jakub Frank regarded by his followers as ‘the Jewish Messiah’. It transpires that Jakub Goliński from Galicia, former member of a Frankist sect, was assaulted and robbed as punishment for his apostasy from ‘faith’. Klein decides to conduct a meticulous investigation, suspecting that Frank is hatching a plot against the imperial rule of Maria Theresa. At the same time, Klein’s wife suffers a stroke and traditional medicine is of no help. Only mysterious healers can come with aid. (Catalogue IFF Wrocław)
