The epic drama of a patriarchal family based in the midst of the Don steppe. In the tremendous house it's the despotic father who calls the shots; his grown-up sons still take beatings. With grandfather's one-hundredth birthday approaching, the growing family tension reaches its culmination with the return of the eldest son, who hasn't shown his face for twenty-five years: He turns out to be a criminal who bringsfour henchmen in his wake. DOM stands in the tradition of family sagas d la THE GODFATHER; In addition the film is a Western based upon bitter and harsh male personalities and the death of tradition.
