Ben finds himself in a youth detention centre, prosecuted for his part in a brutal robbery. Only reluctantly does he take up the unique opportunity to become a social worker; Ben can move to the forest house, a social institution in which young offenders live like family members, as opposed to being treated like criminals. The forest house rules are strict; the inmates live an existence characterised by mutual respect and iron discipline. Ben tries to integrate into the group, yet within he conceals a dark secret. A powerful tale of guilt and remission.
