A softly-spoken Kyrgyz drama centred upon a lonesome grandmother in the countryside and her descendants, who long lead independent existences in the capital, almost as if belonging to another era. Whilst the elderly woman has no greater wish than to receive a call from her family on her birthday, her granddaughter concentrates her efforts on buying her a mobile phone. An unpretentious short film that offers important insight with few words: Effective communication requires more than just a means.
