This documentary film explores Sorbian/Wendish customs, as lived out in the course of the year: from Zapust, to Easter traditions, St John's Day celebrations, rooster plucking and the traditional “Christ Child” (Janšojski bog). Produced over the period 2014-2016 by author, director and cameraman Donald Saischowa (DOSFILM) on behalf of the foundation for the Sorbian People, with the assistance of Domowina e. V. There are two versions of films; lower Sorbian and German (with English subtitles).

Donald Saischowa - born 1963 in Cottbus, Germany. Completed a salesperson apprenticeship in the fields of radio broadcasting and television engineering from 1986-1988. He has been shooting documentary films since the mid-eighties, and has been the director of photography of over 35 television documentaries. In addition, he works as an author.
