1990. Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall
Georg and Lena arrive in Germany, together
with a group of fellow so-called late repatriates
from Kazakhstan. The hope of a better life
in the West is quickly confronted by a harsh
reality: The reception centre is far from luxurious,
as “Russian Germans” they‘re regarded
with suspicion by the locals and confl icts put
relations within the group to the test. A fi lm
on love in times of great social transformation.
