A letter from his granddaughter provides a long sought-after reason to draw the line; she is told to pack her bags, which in turn escalates the conflict. She writes back to his granddaughter explaining that in fact the old man has passed away, whereupon the youngsters sets about organising his funeral. Through it all however the couple have the chance to close ranks and remember that it doesn't have to be this way.
With wonderfully funny ideas and camerawork that speaks of a heightened attention to detail, Vladimir Zakharenko creates a loving portrait of a long-term relationship between two individuals. MM
