Those with fainter hearts than expedition leader Dan Přibáň and his companions would surely have terminated the onerous journey in a heartbeat. These seasoned travellers refuse to lose heart however, whether dealing with rollercoaster-like mountain roads, bogged down in mud or faced with the umpteenth breakdown. Without a word of complaint they repair and maintain the vintage cars, turning to the gods for help in emergencies, typical of the sense of humour with which they react to obstacles. These are no shallow souls however; they treat every new encounter with an open mind and find space in the film's narrative for wider issues such as deforestation in Sumatra.

The film, which follows the group's fourth expedition, proved a huge box-office success in its native Czech Republic. Part funded by crowdfunding, it's no wonder the project, with its breathtaking footage and combination of suspense and entertainment, is hugely popular amongst domestic audiences, both young and old.
