Farmers at work in the Upper Lusatian uplands, quarry workers, Ralbitz Cemetery, village youths, a wedding procession complete with wedding coordinator (known locally as the Braška) and children, who speak of the future: with a quickly moving spotlight, the film captures the transfer of tradition from generation to generation. Both an impressionistic collage that distinctly bears the signature of Sorbian poet Jurij Brězan, and a poetic historical document that stresses the uniqueness of Sorbian identity without, and this a remarkable fact given the dictates of the time and sponsor of the work, the usual ideological platitudes.
